INTERCESSIONS JANUARY 1, 4, 11

 

 

Mary Mother of God.  Jan 1st 2009

 

Prayers of the Faithful…

 

 

 

Presider:

In union with Mary, the Mother of God, let us make our prayers known to our loving and merciful Lord.

 

1.     Deacon: Let us pray for the Church

Leader:

May this New Year through Mary, be a time of spiritual renewal for all those men and women who serve your Church.

 Pause     We pray to the Lord                    

                         R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

2.    Deacon:  Let us pray for our world

Leader:

May the Lord through Mary, look kindly upon us and in this New Year bring Christ’s gift of everlasting harmony and peace to all the people.

Pause     We pray to the Lord                     

                        R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

                       

3.       Deacon:  Let us pray for those who are suffering

Leader:

May this New Year bring God’s comfort and healing through Mary, to all who carry the cross of pain and suffering

Pause     We pray to the Lord.

                      R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

4.      Deacon:  Let us pray for the bereaved

Leader:

May this New Year bring peace and consolation through Mary, to all who grieve the loss of a loved one.

Pause     We pray to the Lord

                      R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

5.       Deacon:  Let us pray for those who have died

Leader:

May those who have died enjoy the blessings of eternal life with Mary, the Virgin Mother of God and all the saints.

Pause - Eternal rest grant to them O Lord.

R:            Let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace?        Amen

 

 

Presider:

Father, you sent your only Son, Jesus, born of the Virgin Mary, to free us from the bonds of sin and death. Bless us this day as we turn to you with our needs and prayers. Grant that we may be faithful disciples of Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit one God forever and ever.

Epiphany 4th  Jan B 2009

 

Prayers of the Faithful…

 

 

Priest/Deacon:

Today our Saviour was adored by the Magi. Let us also worship him with confidence and joy as place our needs before him.

 

1.Deacon:  Let us pray for the Church

Leader:

 Lord, may your Church be a source and beacon of light, justice, and peace in every nation and people on earth.

Pause     We pray to the Lord                    

                         R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

2.      Deacon:  Let us pray for world leaders

Leader:

Lord, may world leaders in their actions and decision making----show respect for nations, cultures and religions not their own.

Pause     We pray to the Lord                     

                        R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

3.       Deacon:  Let us pray for our community

Leader:

Lord, may the Light of Christ scatter the darkness of sin in the hearts of our faith community.

Pause     We pray to the Lord                     

                        R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

4.      Deacon:  Let us pray for the sick, the lonely

Leader:

May all who suffer in mind, body, or spirit experience the light of God’s healing grace.

 Pause     We pray to the Lord.

                      R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

 

5.       Deacon:  Let us pray for  those who have died

Leader:

May heavenly Light shine upon all who rest in the peace of Christ.

Pause - Eternal rest grant to them O Lord.

R:            Let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace?        Amen

 

 

Presider:

 

God of glory and light, your Son, Jesus, came to save all sinners. In your goodness, help us to turn away from the darkness of sin and to faithfully follow Jesus, the Light of the World, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

 

 

Baptism of the Lord B 11th Jan 2009

 

Prayers of the Faithful…

 

 

Priest/Deacon

My brothers and sisters as Jesus came before John to be baptised, let us come before the Lord with our needs and the needs of our world

 

 

1.         Deacon: Let us pray for Pope Benedict Bishop......... our priests,, deacons and Religious

Leader:

Lord grant all those who serve the Church the spirit of humble service to all people.

Pause     We pray to the Lord                    

                         R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

 

2.      Deacon: Let us pray for  Christians throughout the world

Leader:

May the Holy Spirit received through the waters of baptism, strengthen us all as we minister to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Pause     We pray to the Lord                     

                        R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

 

3.      Deacon: Let us pray for the sick

Leader:

May the sick and the suffering reach out to the Lord for healing strength, as they carry their cross of pain.

 Pause     We pray to the Lord.

                 R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

 

4.        Deacon: Let us pray for our young people

Leader:

As he entered his public ministry may Jesus, be a model and example to our young people beginning their working lives.

Pause     We pray to the Lord.

                      R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

 

5.      Deacon: Let us pray for the dead

Leader:

May all who have died in Christ rise with him to new and everlasting life in the glorious kingdom of heaven

Pause - Eternal rest grant to them O Lord.

R:            Let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace?        Amen

 

 

Please remain at the lectern as the following or a similar prayer is said
