Intercessions.

 

 

Presider Whether we are fervent in our faith or filled with doubt, God knows the desires of our hearts and hears our prayers, let us pray with confidence and commitment to a loving God for our world and its needs

 

 

Priest/Deacon:

             

1.                 Priest/Deacon: Let us pray for the Church

Leader: For the Disciples of Christ who live faithfully, forgive sincerely, and surrender to a loving God who fills our lives with gifts, so freely given...

Pause:             We pray

2.      Priest/Deacon: Let us pray for our world

Leader:  For all who seek meaning and value in their lives: that they may experience the gentle invitations of God and recognize the blessings he creates for us all....

  1. Priest/Deacon: Let us pray for our community

Leader:   For the  re-dedication of ourselves, our children, and our works to Mary the Mother of God during this month of October

Pause:             We pray

  1. Priest/Deacon: Let us pray for the  sick and suffering

Leader: For all who have been wounded by abuse: for the  elderly or infirm; for those who suffer with mental and emotional illnesses; for all who are physically ill: that  the healing love of God may strengthen their bodies, minds, and spirits.…,

 Pause             We pray

                                R: Lord, hear our prayer.

 

 

5. Priest/Deacon: Let us pray for the dead

Leader: For those who have died, especially for victims of war, poverty and injustice

Pause:        We pray, eternal rest grant to them O Lord

R: And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace

 

Presider:

Lord, we make these and the silent prayers of our hearts in the name of Jesus your Son and through the intercession of Mary, his blessed mother.....

Having listened to and heard the word of God, let us now confidently present to Him our prayers and petitions.

 

  1. Priest/Deacon: Let us pray for  the Church

Leader:

Lord, may your church be a sign of hope for all people and a symbol of love for all nations

Pause - Lord, hear us.

                      R: Lord, hear our prayer                              

 

  1. Priest/Deacon: Let us pray for  our community

Leader:

Teach us compassion both in word and deed for those less fortunate than ourselves. Help us to be fully aware of the pain they suffer daily.

Pause - Lord, hear us.

                      R: Lord, hear our prayer.

 

  1. Priest/Deacon: Let us pray for our young people

Leader:

Lord sanctify the natural generosity of our young people. Give them the confidence and courage they need to make sacrifices for others.

Pause - Lord, hear us.

  1. Priest/Deacon: Let us pray for  our civic leaders

Leader:

Help us fulfill our civic duty by seriously considering our votes for those who have put themselves forward for local body election

Pause - Lord, hear us.

Leader:

Lord take to yourself all those who have died. Eternal rest grant to them O Lord.

Mindful of all our blessings let us offer our prayers and petitions with gratitude to a good and gracious God in Jesus’ name.

Lord, grant Pope Benedict, our Bishop ……….. our priests, deacons and religious the grace to be faithful stewards of your word by their examples of holiness, humility and service to others

Leader:

Lord, further the ties of community. Strengthen our faith, increase our trust in you and may our love draw others to your son Jesus Christ.

Leader:

Lord may our young people be inspired by the sacrificial life of your Son and the example of your holy people. May they practise their faith with generosity of spirit.

Lord we pray for those who are sick and distressed … for victims of neglect and abuse…. For the lonely and isolated … May we always exercise love of those who suffer by generosity in word and deed.

Having listened to the word of God, who remains our refuge and our strength, let us confidently present to Him our prayers and petitions.

 

  1. Priest/Deacon:           Let us pray for the Church

Reader:           Lord, may your church be a sanctuary for sinners a refuge of compassion, a haven of forgiveness, reflecting the sacrificial love of your Son Jesus Christ.

Pause                          Lord, hear us                      R: Lord, hear our prayer.

                 

 

  1. Priest/Deacon:           Let us pray for the people of Canterbury

Reader:           Lord … grant the people of Canterbury the fortitude and courage to overcome the tragedy of the earthquake and the strength to rebuild their city and towns.

                     R: Lord, hear our prayer.

 

 

 

3.       Priest/Deacon:           Let us pray for fathers on this father’s day.

Reader:                      

Lord, bless the fathers of all ages in our community. Grant them peace of mind courage and dedication to their roles within their families.  Give them the grace, the patience and goodwill to follow the example of your Son Jesus Christ

  1. Priest/Deacon:           Let us continue to pray for the sick and the terminally ill.

Reader:           Lord…we pray for those who are seriously ill, those awaiting operations and medical treatment…grant them and those who care for them, your patience, and peace of mind.

Leader:     May your disciples, especially of our community, who have departed from this passing world find eternal rest in the love of Christ and his blessed mother.
