Prayers of the Faithful…

 

 Presider:

Now let us, express our gratitude to our loving God who is ever faithful. With confident hearts, let us turn to Him with our petitions and prayers.

 

 

  1. Deacon: Let us pray for the Church

Reader:

For the church’s mission to preach the Gospel ... to advocate for the marginalized, to feed the hungry, heal the sick, teach, counsel and guide those who seek God …,

Pause - We pray

                      R: Lord, hear our prayer                           

 

 

  1. Deacon: Let us pray for our world

Reader:

For the creation of just societies where all have food, shelter, medical care, the ability to provide for their children and to live with hope for the future …

Pause - We pray

                      R: Lord, hear our prayer  .

 

  1. Deacon: Let us pray for our children and young people

Reader:

Lord, we thank you for our children. Be close to them in their growing years and may we be a source of good to them in word and example....

Pause - We pray

                      R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Deacon: Let us pray for the suffering and the needy

Reader:

For the privilege to comfort and minister to those who suffer from loneliness, sickness, poverty, or abuse. May we be for them a mirror of your Son....

                      R: Lord, hear our prayer

 

 

 

  1. Deacon: We remember those who have died

Reader:

Lord, we thank you for the graces we have received through the lives of those who have died.

… For these and all who mourn....

                      R: Lord, hear our prayer

                 

   

 Presider: 

Almighty God, you sent your only Son, that we might have life eternal. May our hearts be filled each day with loving gratitude as we journey toward our heavenly home. We ask this through Christ our Lord

 Celebrant:

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field”. Let us ask God for the wisdom to bring the light of Christ compassionately into our world.

 

1.  Deacon: Let us pray for those, called to special service in the church

Leader:

Lord we pray for bishops priests, deacons and religious, … teachers, administrators and spiritual directors ... ministers of worship and ministers to the poor ... for all who serve within the church...,

Pause   We pray to the Lord

                                     R. Lord hear our prayer

 

 

2.Deacon: Let us pray for our world. 

Leader:

Lord we pray for the leaders of nations … for men and women of power and influence... for members of the media and for those whose decisions and actions affect the lives of many ... stir in them motives of justice and truth

Pause   We pray to the Lord

                                     R. Lord hear our prayer

 

 

3. Deacon: Let us pray for our young people. 

Leader:

Lord, may your Holy Spirit continue to direct and guide our young people, especially those about to leave for  World Youth Day, grant them the Gifts of the Spirit that  they may be active disciples of your Son.

4.Deacon: Let us pray for the sick. 

Leader:

Lord we pray for the sick …for those who most need our prayers... for all whose lives are threatened and those who share in your healing ministry …

Pause   We pray to the Lord

                     R: Lord, hear our prayer.

 

 

5. Deacon:  We remember those who have died

Leader:

Lord, take to yourself all those who have gone before us.   Comfort those who grieve the loss of loved ones

Pause   We pray to the Lord

                            R: Lord, hear our prayer.

 

 

                    

Priest:   Good and gracious God, watch over and protect us. Strengthen the love that unites us. Grant that our community may know the peace, joy and unity that is a sign of your presence among us. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

God created us to live in harmony with each other, to see Christ in each other and to care and to pray for each other. Confident that God hears our prayers, let us pray.

 

Deacon: Let us pray for the Church. 

Leader:

  1. For those called to the priesthood, diaconate and religious life … for Christian families … for Christian Communities … and for all who work and pray to build the kingdom of God … we pray,    (Pause)            Lord hear us

                                     R. Lord hear our prayer

 

 

Deacon: Let us pray for civil authority 

Leader:

2.  For our government and the governments of all nations … for courts and all who serve in political life … for justice and freedom and the good of   all the people they serve… we pray,  (Pause)            Lord hear us

Deacon: Let us pray for the underprivileged 

Leader:

  1. For the oppressed and maltreated … for those who work for the poor and needy … for all who share their blessings with others … we pray,        (Pause)                   Lord hear us

Deacon: Let us pray for the people of Africa affected by drought and its accompanying famine

Leader:

  1.  Lord may the millions of displaced persons rersiding in the refugee camps of Somalia know our concern for their welfare with pratical expressions of money , food and goods that will sustain them in their suffering – we pray           (Pause)        Lord hear us

                         R: Lord, hear our prayer       

 

 

Deacon: Let us pray for the sick. 

Leader:

  1. For  all those who are sick … for those close to death … for all those for whom we have promised to pray …              (Pause)-          Lord, hear us.

                     R: Lord, hear our prayer.

 

 

Deacon:  Let us pray  for those who have died

Leader:

  1. We remember those who have died … for those who mourn the passing of someone dear to them … we pray,            (Pause)            Lord, hear us.

                            R: Lord, hear our prayer.                    

 

Priest:

Lord watch over and protect us. Strengthen the love that unites us. Grant that we may know the peace,  and joy that is a sign of your presence among us. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Am

  1. May our Pope Benedict, our Bishop Denis and all the ministers of your church sow the seed of your Gospel on good soil that it will bear fruit a hundred fold

Deacon: Let us pray for our world. 

Leader:

2.  Lord may all the affluent nations share   with poor countries, the goods and resources of this world, which you created for the benefit of all people

Deacon: Let us pray for the people starving and suffering in the refugee camps of Somalia. 

Leader:

3.      Lord, grant your peace and courage  to the people of Somalia , Eritrea and Ethiopia  and the aid workers who assist them in their struggle against the effects of famine.

Deacon: Let us pray for ecumenism. 

Leader:

4.      Lord, bless and grant the grace of strength, wisdom and perseverance to those who work so hard in the cause of ecumenism among all Christians and those who believe in you. that we may all share in one bread,-  and become one body in Christ.

Deacon: Let us pray for the sick. 

Leader:

  1. Lord we pray for the sick in body, mind and in spirit and for doctors and nurses and all caregivers who share in the healing ministry of Jesus Christ your Son…

Leader:

  1. Take to yourself all those who have died.   And comfort those who are grieving the loss of someone they love
